Windsor Eclipse Model II Piccolo Zither Banjo
Windsor Eclipse Model II Piccolo Zither Banjo
This is a second hand Windsor Eclipse Model II Piccolo Zither banjo in full working order. This is quite a unique and collectable instrument, made in Birmingham in the early 20th century. This banjo is currently tuned to open E, but would likely sit comfortable in C, D, or possibly in G. As a second hand instrument, it does show signs of use, largely in terms of scuffs, scrapes, scratches, and the normal sort of cosmetic wear that you would expect to find on a vintage instrument. There is a small gap where the heal joins the body but this seems to be stable and not a cause for concern.
This banjo features a 6 string headstock, as was quite common with Windsor banjos. It was less expensive to use guitar headstocks on banjos rather than creating a seperate headstock in the factory. It also featrues a tunneled 5th string.
This banjo is in great playing shape with nice, low action that is very comfortable. It produces a ringing but warm tone.
This banjo comes in what appears to be its original case, which is fully working as well.
