This is a 1954 Selmer Super Balanced Action, serial no. 55,xxx. Produced from 1947 to 1954, the Super Balanced Action (SBA) is often regarded as the culmination of Selmer's vintage design philosophy. It is a direct ancestor of the iconic Mark VI, but many players believe it possesses a unique tonal character that sets it apart. The SBA is renowned for its big, warm, and dark sound with a huge amount of projection and a rich, complex core. The instrument is in phenomenal condition considering its age with only a couple of spots of lacquer wear and one small ding on the body.

This horn plays well and the pads have a good amount of life left in them. Everything is sealing and working as it should. (Please watch the video to see how this horn is playing.)
