This is a 1954 Selmer Super Balanced Action in original lacquer. Produced from 1947 to 1954, the Super Balanced Action (SBA) is often regarded as the culmination of Selmer's vintage design philosophy. It is a direct ancestor of the iconic Mark VI, but many players believe it possesses a unique tonal character that sets it apart. The SBA is renowned for its big, warm, and dark sound with a huge amount of projection and a rich, complex core. The instrument is in phenomenal condition considering its age with only a couple of spots of lacquer wear and one small ding on the body.

This horn plays well and the pads have some life left in them but you'll probably want to get it serviced, potentially repadded if it's going to be your main horn. It is a bit leaky toward the bottom end.
