This is quite a special alto. It’s a 1936 Selmer Balanced Action, serial number 22,xxx. This horn has not been relacquered as so many have and as such retains its original brilliance and resonance. This horn responds quickly and has a very light and lively feel about it. The action is super light and quick, characteristic of vintage Selmers, owing to the lightness of springs used on these vintage horns. 

The saxophone is free from any dents or damage and is mechanically sound.The low Eb key guard is not original and has been replaced. I would estimate the pads on the saxophone are about ten years old. They are sealing well and the horn plays easily top to bottom (see video) but they have seen some use. This horn is supplied with a Kinsman leather gig bag, which is in full working order.

This horn would be a great horn for someone interested in playing jazz and bebop, though it could certainly be used for a wide variety of styles.
