1935 Conn 6M 'Naked Lady' Alto Saxophone
1935 Conn 6M 'Naked Lady' Alto Saxophone
This is a 1935 Conn 6M alto saxophone, also known as a 'Naked Lady' or a 'Lady Face.' This horn is in full working order except for the micro tuner on the neck which is jammed. This horn plays in tune when slightly pulled out so can be used without fixing the micro tuner.
The pads on this saxophone are old, but are sealing reasonably well. It can be played right out of the case. This horn has Conn Res-O-Pads and rolled tone holes, which is a combination that seems to make pads last for ages.
As you would expect from a vintage Conn, this horn has a big, rich, and powerful sound, particularly in the low register. The action is smooth and you can really get around on it.
This horn's serial number is 270,xxx, which dates it to 1935. This is a classic example of a silver plated 6M. This horn has had cork built up on the palm keys and under the right hand thumb hook.
This saxophone comes with a case but no mouthpiece.
