This is a 1931 Selmer Super Series tenor saxophone in excellent, fully working condition. Serial number 14,xxx. This is one of the finest Super Series that we've seen come through the shop. It plays with a mellow almost fluffy sound but can take a lot of air and can get quite wide when you push it. This would be a great horn for anyone interested in early jazz, blues, big band, or any style where you want a big, robust sound.

 

As a vintage instrument most of the lacquer has worn off and the horn does show some signs of use in terms of the usual scratches, etc that you would expect to see from a player-grade vintage horn of this age. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect the horn's playability. This horn is mechanically excellent with very light spring tension which ripples under the fingers and feels great. The pads are sealing well and have a lot of life left in them. This is a rare opportunity to get your hands on a horn of this vintage in this good of condition.

 

This horn comes with a very sturdy  metal case that is in fully working order and protects the horn well.

 

Please note, this saxophone is not supplied with a mouthpiece.
