This is a second hand Windsor Popular Model 3 5-string banjo with a closed back. The closed back was not typical of this model and as a result it puts out a fair amount of volume. This banjo shows its age, cosmetically but is other wise in good working order. The action is on the higher side but could potentially be lowered if preferred. The case is reliable but does have a couple of spots where the seams are coming apart. The latches work fine and hold the banjo safely.

Windsor banjos were made in Birmingham. The manufacturer, Arthur Octavius Windsor, was a coffin maker and enjoyed playing the banjo as a hobby. He eventually began making banjos in his coffin factory before setting up a purpose built facilty and became one of the largest banjo manufacturers in England.
