This is the old style A mandolin from Gibson with high arching on both front and back. The back sides and neck are mahogany with a dark brown stain and the front is a deep honey coloured natural finish.

The scratch plate is tortoishell and MOP inlayed into the front.

There is evidnce of a very slight repaired crack in the front otherwise this instrument is almost perfect with all orginal fittings excluding the hard case which is modern. I have seldom seen an instrument of this age in such good condition nor one that plays with such a beautiful, powerfull mellow tone.
