Bolivian SnakeHead Charango - Very Rare

This instrument is one of only 2 in the world, the other being owned by the President of Bolivia. Carved out of one piece of solid timber in the form of a snake, the back being made up of two coils with the body of the snake extending as the neck and the headstock being the head of the snake. The front of the Charango is solid spruce with a inlaid rosewood apron and the soundhole in the front of the instrument is the outline of Bolivia. It is a truly exquisite piece of carving, it could fool you into thinking it has been made from a real snake.

The maker of this wonderful work is a native Bolivian, Adrian Vilenueva, celebrated in his own country as a master craftsman. It has 5 double strings tuned by means of violin type pegs and the 18 frets extend over the body from the 13th.

A tie, classical style bridge, holds the strings on the body. If you play, or want to play South American music, this beautiful instrument has a tremendous sound: And with its stunning appearance has got to be a must for just one lucky musician.
